Coogee Island Challenge
Let's just say this one is not for the faint hearted! The Coogee Island Challenge is held in late November and swimmers make their way through Coogee's cooler waters along a 2.4km course. Circumventing the famous Wedding Cake Island from the iconic Coogee Beach, this tough race is a somewhat kinder alternative to The Coogee Island Challenge (Cool Water), which takes place in cooler waters of April every year.
Being a major event on the mainstream Sydney ocean swimming season, St Marks Randwick provides the perfect accommodation for anyone participating in the race, being just a 10 min bus ride or 20 min walk to the glistening shores of Coogee Beach.

Sydney City 2 Surf
Held every year on the 2nd Sunday in August, Sydney's famous City 2 Surf is a popular fun run that attracts both competitive runners and community partners who endure a 14 kilometre race through the city towards Bondi Beach. St Marks Randwick is one of the closest and most affordable accommodation options to the Sydney City 2 Surf race, being just a 20 min walk or 10 min bus from Coogee Beach and most precincts within Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.
Whether you're competing, joining for fun or in the aim of raising money for a good cause, the City 2 Surf is a great event bringing all walks of life together. With the race commencing on William Street in Sydney's CBD, guests can make their way by regular bus transport to the city from Belmore Road, or by using Sydney's newest light rail metro! If you want to head into Bondi to see the competitors cross the line or cheer on loved ones, jump on the bus and head on over to Bondi Junction in under 20 mins!
Please note that during race day various streets through the City and Eastern Suburbs are closed to vehicles and busses. Where possible we recommend you catch public transport and always check road closure maps on the Waverley Council Website to find out more.
